Peter and I are home from our little vacation and back on the work grind this morning. I planned for this post to go up on Monday but I wasn’t able to find any Wifi where we stayed, I even went into town to see if I could find any coffee shops or restaurants with Wifi but no such luck! We ended up in a very small cottage country town, with not much around besides a Home Hardware (that served ice cream!) and a Chip Wagon on the side of the road.
So today is the day I get to share this cute wrap top from Banana Republic that I picked up a couple weeks ago! I wore it to grab ice cream in “town” on Sunday afternoon and it was perfect. The weather was hot and windy so I’m glad I opted for a light weight sleeveless top, I also bought it in another pattern as well that I’ll be putting up on the blog soon. I love that they’re so easy to dress up or down, throw a blazer over it and wear with dress pants to an office, or pair with jeans like I did here for a lunch date or trip to the mall!
Todays post is a very exciting one because I’m talking all about the biggest sale of the year: the Nordstrom Anniversary sale! I’m going to cover what is is, how and when to take advantage of it, and what my picks are from the sale, so lets get started!
What is the Nordstrom Anniversary sale?
The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is unlike typical sales because Nordstrom releases all their brand-new fall merchandise at deep discounted prices for a limited time. After the sale all fall merchandise goes back up to regular price for the rest of the season.
When and how can we shop the sale?
For Nordstrom cardholders the early access sale started July 13th and runs until the 20th(tomorrow’s the last day). After that the sale opens up to the public from July 21st-Aug 6th, and then prices on the fall line go back up August 7th. The sale can be shopped in stores or on the Nordstrom website!
What are your picks from the sale?
Okay now for the fun part… I shopped the sale early and chose all my favourite items from their new fall line. If you guys have been following me for a while you’ll know that fall is my favourite season, so I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I get super excited to shop for fall clothing lol! I have bunch of picks from the sale but I’m breaking them down by category to make it a little less over whelming.
Tees and Tops
I chose mostly layering tees because thats what I live in during the fall and winter. They’re perfect to throw on with an oversized scarf, jeans and booties in early fall, and when it gets cooler just layer under a jacket or cardigan.
Sweaters and Jackets
In the fall I love wearing chunky knits, oversized sweaters and long duster cardigans in seasonal colours, like browns, greens and rusty oranges. Even cashmere is included in the Nordstrom sale this year, so if you’ve always wanted to get your hands on a super soft wardrobe staple, nows the time!
Dresses and Rompers
These pieces caught my eye because we are able to wear them right now, the floral romper is perfect for the summer but the other three pieces would be great for transitioning into fall too! Throw on a suede jacket, booties and a felt hat and your ready for the apple orchard!
I live in denim year round but every fall I always stock up on jeans in darker hues, they’re the perfect piece to compliment any outfit. I also picked a good high rise black legging because they’re great to wear with long sweaters and tunics.
Fall = Booties, Boots, and leopard print, enough said!
My absolute favourite thing to buy in the fall is blanket scarves, and Nordstrom has come through with some extra cozy ones this year(I can’t wait to be able to wear them!!). They also have a ton of cute sunglasses, dainty jewelry, and bags perfect for fall!
If you guys want a sneak peak at whats available in the sale two days early click here. You won’t be able to purchase until the 20th without a Nordstrom debit or credit card, but its smart to pre-shop because sizes sell out quickly once the sale opens to the public. With a sale this good, you won’t want to miss out!
Todays post is a mini round up of all my favorite buys under $50! Now that my holiday shopping has commenced I’ve been looking around for gift ideas for friends and family. But along the way I stumbled upon some items that I fell in love with/had to buy for myself, and share them with you! These would make great gifts for you to add to your wishlist OR to buy for any woman on your gift list!
SmashBox Primer Set
I actually picked up this Smashbox set for my birthday last month but wanted to mention it again because its actually a part of Smashbox’s Christmas gift sets, and the products inside are the best! This has quickly become my favorite primer and setting spray, and I don’t think i’ll ever go back to using anything else.
Ribbed Long Sleeve Turtleneck
This turtleneck is the softest most comfortable shirt I have in my wardrobe right now, I’m obsessed, and it’s at such a great price point! I love the turtleneck on it but it actually has some pretty great length to it too, so I bought a couple extra smalls ‘s to tuck into highwaisted pants at work, but also sized up and bought a few small’s (for extra length) to wear with leggings, they cover the bum and it makes for the coziest outfit!
Okay.. don’t kill me, but I’m raving about these jeans again (Ooops!). Old Navy Rockstar jeans are my absolute favorite jeans and they are soooo affordable. I recommend everyone give them a try because they fit every body type, tall, short, petite, and plus, they will have a size for you!
Warm and cozy plaid blanket scarf….need I say more?
I’ve been obsessed with bag pom pom charms for a few years now and this year is no exception, but I thought I would change it up and get a black one and I love the way it looks! It looks very chic and goes with every bag I own.
It’s been a week since you’ve heard from me, I skipped my Wednesday and Friday posts last week for my birthday. So today’s post is a round up of everything I bought for myself on my birthday & what Peter gave me as a gift! But let me start off by saying I had the worst luck ever on my actual birthday (last Thursday) and my car had an electrical fire as we were driving home from Toronto..so I ended up with a huge tow truck bill as my main birthday present…which kind of put a damper on things but my birthday celebration on Friday night made up for it.
Okay lets jump into the good stuff, first up is makeup!
I always buy fresh makeup the day before my birthday, because lets face it… the first application with new makeup is magical to say the least.. and what better day to feel that magic than on my birthday!
On my actual Birthday Peter took me to the new Nordstrom in Toronto because we finally got one here! That was my one birthday request, but surprisingly I didn’t find much to buy that I thought was worth the price.
