Whats In My Makeup Bag!

Happy Friday Friends,

I’m rounding off this week with a beauty post, finally! It’s been a while since I shared my favourite products with you guys, so today I’m giving you all the details on my makeup bag hits and misses. I’ve been reaching for more and more drug store products lately. I find CoverGirl, L’oreal, and Maybelline have been stepping up their game, so I don’t feel the need to go out and splurge on higher end products as often, which is amazing!

Foundation & Concealer

Laura Mercier Foundation in shade ‘Medium Ivory’

I am obsessed with the full coverage and dewiness of this foundation. And the shade I have is perfect for when I have my fake tanner on since it has a bit of olive undertone to it. I can’t seem to find a shade in it that matches my natural(extremely fair) skin tone though, which leads me to my next foundation choice….

CoverGirl Vitalist Elixer Foundation

This stuff is soooo good for a drug store foundation. Its not quite as full coverage as the Laura Mercier foundation but it can be built up but adding an extra pump wherever you need to more coverage. It’s dewy and light-weight, and a fraction of the price of high end foundations, making this one a great alternative. It also has SPF which is amazing! I have this one in the lightest shade, and the third lightest(for when I have my tanner on) and reach for it everyday.

Maybelline Better Skin Concealer in shade ‘Ivory’

I’ve been using this concealer for years now and can’t stop, it has great coverage and sets really well with my favourite loose powder. The combo together gives me flawless and crease free results, everytime!

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder

I firmly believe this is the best translucent powder on the market for setting your concealer. I used to use this powder to set my whole face but found it left me a little matte, and for someone who likes the glowy/dewy look to their foundation it wasn’t my favourite look. Also its pretty pricey so I started saving a lot more money by only using it to set my under eyes lol!

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder in shade ‘Translucent Light’

Okay, I feel like I keep raving about everything but here I go again – I’m obsessed with this powder. Its sooooo good for setting your whole face because it doesn’t make you look powdery or matte. Its also amazing at covering any discolouration on your face. My nose is usually red on the end and its so hard to cover with just foundation and concealer. So what I do is pack the powder on the discolouration after applying my foundation and leave it for a few minutes to ‘bake’. Then I just dust it off and it will completely cover the redness, and it works the same for pimples too.

Two Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in shade ‘Milk Chololate’

I have used this bronzer for years, its the perfect matte bronze shade to use for contouring. It helps make the contour look more like a shadow then any other bronzer I’ve used, and it latests forever! I don’t know how but its like never ending haha and smells like milk chocolate!

CoverGirl Brow & Eye Makers in shade ‘Soft Brown’

I had been searching for the perfect brow shade for my hair colour forever, because its so hard to find a blonde eyebrow shade thats not boarder line orange. I stumbled upon this one by complete accident when my sister bought a pack and then never used it, so she gave it to me to try. I never would have purchased a ‘soft brown’ shade in fear that it would be too dark, but this colour is perfect! I use a light hand because it can look dark if you press down really hard, but a light brushing stroke gives me the perfect brow shade.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in shade ‘Scratch’

There was a colour very similar to this in my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette called ‘Buzz’ and I used it up right away because I loved it so much. So I went to Sephora and asked the girls there to grab me a shadow pot with the closest shade to ‘Buzz’ in it, and they gave me this one! I love using a light shimmery shade on my lids and this rose gold one is no exception.

Carli Byble Pallet

I have mentioned this pallet before to you guys but its still a favourite of mine that I use daily. The mauve and brown shadows are my go-tos and the largest, lightest highlight shade is an all time favourite! The quality of this palette is just insane for the price point, its a definite must have for me.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in shade ‘Eastend Snob’

I love this liner, its new to my collection and its stolen my heart already! Its so creamy and smooth, it lasts hours and doesn’t bleed. The colour is also the perfect shade to pair with any of my pink or rose lipsticks.

Mac Lipstick in shade ‘Please Me’

‘Please Me’ is my go-to everyday shade of lipstick, its the perfect pinky rose and compliments any outfit perfectly! If you’ve seen any of my instagram/blog OOTD photos then you’ve definitely seen me wearing it, I wear this shade almost daily.

L’oreal Colour Riche in shade ‘Matte-caron’

My favourite matte baby pink shade to wear with light and bright outfits. The formula is super creamy and it smells like cotton candy, its soooo good!

L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara in ‘Blackest Black’

I wanted to love this mascara… it applied nicely and made me lashes look really good. However the transfer and fall out was what ruined it for me. I couldn’t go a few hours without getting black dots on my brow bone from my lashes touching whenever I would look up. And I found the formula flaked off really easily so I would end up with little black flakes under my eyes too. It’s a shame because what It does for your lashes is great, and the packaging is beautiful!

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in ‘Blackest Black’

After trying the L’oreal Lash Paradise and being disappointed I went back to the drug store in search for another one to try out. The Maybelline Push-Up Mascara caught my eye, but to be honest when I saw the packaging I thought it was a double ended mascara. One with a primer on one end and a mascara on the other, so I was a little disappointed when I got home and it wasn’t. It’s my fault though for not properly reading the package, Peter was with me and he hates makeup shopping so I just grabbed it and left lol! I don’t find the mascara does any sort of lifting or ‘push up’ like the packaging says, but the brush end is nice. However it applies a lot of product at once, so I have to use it with a light hand or my lashes look really chunky.

With all that being said – I’m still on the hunt for a affordable mascara so if you guys know of any good ones let me know in the comments below! If not, I may have to go back to my old trusty Givenchy mascara. It’s pricey but it works wonders! Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I’ll talk to you on Monday 🙂

Enjoy your weekend!

Cozy Cable Knit OOTD

Sweater / Jeans / Bag – Smaller Version / Bag – Different Colours / Similar BeltSunglasses / Similar Booties /

Hey guys, I hope everyone’s having a good week so far! I recently went into H&M and OMG they have so many cute pieces, especially their sweaters. The store was busting with cozy knits and turtlenecks and I went a little crazy… I bought wayyy too much lol! The sweater I’m wearing is my favourite out of everything I bought, I love how thick and chunky it is and the colour is such a nice neutral. Unfortunately it’s out of stock online but I purchased mine literally 2 days ago and there was tons in store.

Oh another note, Peter and I are heading to the movies tonight to see Jumanji and I’m so excited. Have any of you guys seen it? It looks really good! I also really want to see the new Pitch Perfect so I’ll have to convince Peter to see it with me next week lol!

Bring on 2018 + Life Updates!

Hey guys,

Just wanted to check in with you and wish you all a very Happy New Year! I’ve been sick in bed for the past few days, which is the last way I wanted to ring in the new year – but hey, at least I’m going into 2018 well rested haha. I’ve got some big plans for this year and can’t wait to start putting them into motion. Every January I love getting super organized and refreshed, I always start by donation pieces in my closet/room that I haven’t been wearing or using in the past year. Going from drawer to drawer completely re-organizing and cleaning everything so I know where everything is when I need it next. Luckily I did that the week before Christmas (before I got sick) which makes me feel a little less guilty about being stuck in bed this week.

My biggest resolution for 2018 is to make my blog a priority again. I get so caught up in trying to juggle everything perfectly that I get overwhelmed and end up hiding from it all. This year I’m taking the pressure off by being more organized and taking things one task at a time. I also really want to start incorporating video into the blog (which I know I’ve mentioned before). The topics won’t be anything too different from what I usually post on here but it’ll just be in video form, which will help me to better connect with you guys! And as for that Vlog I told you guys about a while ago…Its done and ready to upload. I tried uploading it multiple times but every time I do there’s a weird fuzzy line through the screen whenever I’m talking. So I’m trying to fix that before it goes up, which will hopefully be by the end of the week(fingers crossed). I was thinking of filming a ‘what I got for Christmas’ video too, so let me know if thats something you’d want to see! I’m open to any video or blog post topic ideas you guys might have, I’ve been making lists of my ideas lately but would love to know what you guys want to see.

Also, I wanted to say thank you to everyone whose been following along through 2017. You guys are the absolute best and I appreciate every single one of you! I’m going to do a lot more giveaways for you in 2018 as my way of saying thank you<3

It’s officially the season of giving, so I’ve rounded up the best gifts for any women in your life! I’ve spent a lot of time hand picking each item for this guide because I wanted to make sure these were fool proof ideas for anyone. So I’ve broken the post up into three different categories – The Beauty Lover – The Lux Girl – The Home Body. If you are buying for someone who doesn’t fall into one of those categories thats okay, there are still some great gifting options within the post that anyone would love! Beauty Lover

The Beauty Lover

VS Cosmetics CasesIf you know a beauty lover, then you know she’s got quite the collection of makeup. What’s the perfect addition to a collection of makeup? A beautiful makeup case to keep it organized and stylish! I found these pretty pink makeup cases at Victorias Secret and fell in love. The Vanity Case is perfect for holding her day-to-day makeup, and the Jetsetter Travel Case is great for organizing the rest of her collection! The travel case has three small bags inside too, which are great to fill with lipsticks and to throw in her purse.

Tarte Brush SetIf she wears makeup then she definitely uses makeup brushes and the great thing about gifting a brush set is that – A girl can literally never have too many brushes! Plus brushes can be very expensive, so if you give a girl a good set of quality brushes, she’s going to appreciate it! *Unfortunately the set shown is sold out online so I’ll link another good set here.

Fresh – Sugar Lip Beauty BoxThese are the best lip balms ever!! They go on so smooth and will keep her lips hydrated for hours, and the best part is that this set comes with every colour in the collection(including the original clear version). A tinted lip balm is great to brighten up her lips while still looking natural, and now she’s got a colour for any occasion!
