I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends. Todays look is another one of my outfits from Blue Mountain, and I think it’s one of my favourite outfits I’ve ever shared! I love pairing cozy sweaters and booties with skirts while the weather is still mild enough to get away with it. I picked up this sweater at Zara a few weeks ago and fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. Its sooooo silky soft and comfy, it feels like your wearing a cloud! My skirt is an old Smart Set find but Nordstrom has some really good leather skirt options right now, and I’ve linked one of my favourites below!
As I mentioned in last weeks post, Peter and I went to Blue Mountain on the weekend for their Apple Harvest Festival. We got there on Friday night before the festival started and walked around the village, took some outfit pictures and then headed back to our hotel before dinner. It was so nice to spend a night up north with all the colourful leaves, we don’t normally do trips in the fall but now I feel like it needs to become a tradition! The Harvest Festival started Saturday but it was raining all day so we watched a few shows and demonstrations and then headed back home for Thanksgiving. I wore this sweater when we were exploring on Friday and it was perfect, the weather was cool so it kept me nice and warm! It is a little scratchy though so if you have super sensitive skin, this one might not be for you. I found a look-a-like thats soft and linked it in the widget below.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!
I hope everyone’s been having a great week so far! The weather has really cooled off here which feels so good, I had to bust out my big blanket scarves a few mornings this week, which I love! I’ve also been living in this long grey cardigan since I got it in the mail a few weeks ago, the colour goes with everything and I love the length. Cozy cardigans are a staple in my fall and winter wardrobe and Old Navy has some really good ones right now, and they’re all 30% off this week!
On another note, this weekend is Canada’s Thanksgiving long weekend and I’ve got some fun things planned. Peter and I are headed to Blue Mountain(my favourite place!) for their Apple Harvest Festival for a couple days – to hike, try different ciders, take blog pictures, and just do fun fall activities. Then we’re coming home just in time to celebrate Thanksgiving on Sunday and Monday with each of our families. Thanksgiving has always been my favourite holiday since it falls in my favourite month of the year(my birthday month) October, so I can hardly wait!
Do you guys have any fun plans this weekend? Let me know in the comments! Oh, and follow along on my Instagram stories to see what we get up to at the Harvest Festival (@melissaashburn) 🙂
I wanted to start a new series on the blog for fall, all about how to get into the spirit and embrace the season. In the fall I find myself craving tv shows & movies that give me one of two feelings, cozy, or creepy, and I’m sure I’m not alone. So I’m breaking down all the shows and movies I’ve been hooked on that give me all the fall vibes!
Cozy Shows/Movies – ie. Shows that are usually set in the fall, but are wholesome and easy to watch with the whole family. They’re the perfect kind of show to curl up in bed to watch with a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate and just enjoy.
The Good Witch – The movies are great, but the TV show is even better, and great for the whole family.
The Proposal – A classic Rom-Com starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, its an older movie but still one of my fall favourites
Girl Vs Monster – A Disney Channel Halloween Movie, its sets the fall/Halloween feels and is easy to watch.
Halloween Wars – A reality/competition show revolving around everything Halloween
Halloween Baking Championship – Another reality/competition show that challenges bakers to make spooky treats (I love this one because it gives you fun ideas of what you could make with your family/friends)
A few classic movies worth mentioning – Hocus Pocus, Halloween town (1,2,3,&4), twitches (1&2), Tower of Terror, & Haunted Mansion.
Creepy Shows/Movies – ie. Shows with a bit of mystery and/or horror without being too scary(I don’t watch believably scary stuff or I get nightmares lol)
Riverdale – Netflix’s new show based around the Archie comics
Scream Queens – Full of (cheesy) murder and drama, but I love it.
Scream – The Netflix Tv series NOT the old movies. I just discovered this show and binge watched the whole 2 seasons in three days. If you like PLL, Riverdale or Scream Queens you’ll like this one. (Warning* It is gory but its very fake looking, so its not overly scary)
Stranger Things – I’m sure you’ve all seen the first season but if you haven’t you should catch up now because the new season comes out October 27th on Netflix!
Shadow Hunters – I mentioned this one last year when there was only 1 season on Netflix, and now that season two just ended and the filming for season three has started I feel like I should mention it again. If you like supernatural shows with demons and vampires, you’ll love this show.
A few older shows worth mentioning incase you didn’t take the plunge into them years ago – Pretty Little Liars (their coming out with a spin off too!!), The Walking Dead, & The 100.
I’m going to keep adding to this post as I discover more Autumnal shows, so keep checking back! If you have any shows or movies you think I would watch and add to the list leave me a comment below. Id love to hear your suggestions for fally shows 🙂
