How To – Lip Exfoliation

Happy October Everyone!

October is my favorite month. I love the turkey on Thanksgiving, and celebrating Halloween, but unfortunately as the weather gets cooler the crisp air likes to suck the moisture out of our skin and for most of us, our lips take the biggest hit. Dry flakey lips are a big no-no in my books so I like to keep it in check by consistently applying blistex throughout the day.. however I do slip up every now and then…and when I do my lips get very dry and start flaking. I have found the best duo for getting rid of those cold-weather abused lips in a matter of minutes!

Lush Bubble Gum Lip Scrub – Here

Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Scrub – Here (different container but same product)

Step 1 – Wash Your Face

This step isn’t essential but I like to do this with a clean makeup-free face because the sugar from the scrub can get on your face when your scrubbing.

Step 2 – Apply VS Beauty Rush Scrub

I like to use the VS scrub first because it’s more glossy then scrubby – which is why I don’t use it on its own…there isn’t enough scrub in this product to effectively smooth out flakey lips. However it is the perfect glossiness to be a great base for the Lush Scrub.

Step 3 – Apply Lush Lip Scrub

Next I apply the Lush scrub over top of the VS scrub. This Lush scrub is mostly just grains of sugar that I put all over my lips and then I scrub with my finger in a circular motion where my lips are the most dry.

Step 4 – Wash Off

After a really good scrub I then take a makeup removing cloth and wipe my lips down to get rid of all the sugar and gloss. Then I follow up immediately with some blistex lip balm to prevent my lips from drying out again.

On a Budget? You can duplicate this same technique with products you have at home (It’s just a little messy.) Grab some Vaseline and use it in step 2. Then use sugar from your sugar bowl for step 3!
