Summer Round Up Ft. Charmed Aroma!

IMG_9739

Good morning guys!

Today I’m collaborating with Charmed Aroma to round up all of my favorite things that get me most excited for summer. I always love putting these seasonal posts together because its a really fun way to kick off another exciting season, and what better way to do it then with Charmed Aroma. As you guys know, I love candles, I burn them almost everyday and always switch the scents up for each season, but what makes Charmed Aroma extra special is that their candles are made with soy wax. Making them beautify fragrant, giving them a longer burning life, and hidden in that soy wax is a piece of jewelry! Yep you heard me… rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets, are all hidden among their candles! Lucky for you they ship to Canada, United States, United Kingdom, and Australia, so you can all get your hands on them, and whats even better is I have an exclusive promo code for you too! ….But more on that later, lets jump into todays post!

Spending time outside

IMG_9706

This one I’m sure comes as no surprise, but spending time outdoors is something I do everyday in the summer. The weather is usually perfect and the flowers are too pretty not to sit and stare at haha! My mom, sister and I spend many afternoons with tea and cookies in the garden on sunny days, its our favorite thing to do in the summer!

Sip on my favorite summer drink

There is nothing better then a cold refreshing drink on a hot summer day, which is why I love making my favorite Starbucks inspired Passion Tea Lemonade. I posed the recipe for it here, and just doubled the batch in order to fill my juice pitcher! If you’ve never tried it, its just as refreshing as lemonade but with a fruity twist.

Bring the fresh smell of summer inside

Okay, back to the good stuff – I saw this candle on the Charmed Aroma website and fell completely in love with it! Not only because of the adorable ceramic pineapple exterior (which makes for the cutest room decor!), but the description of the smell was so good I could almost smell it through the computer screen. Charmed Aroma was nice enough to send me one and let me tell you…its gooooood. I’m burning it as we speak and it smells like a tropical paradise, and that’s not even the best part! The ring hidden inside is worth up to $5,000! Its a candle that just keeps giving <3

Bake up some summery treats

IMG_9740

I’m a big fan of lemon flavored baked goods in the summer, danishes, cupcakes, muffins, they are all my favorite! So when I’m in that baking mood I usually go for something fresh and lemony, like these lemon poppy seed muffins! These make for a perfect mid afternoon snack, and taste amazing.

Brighten up any space with fresh flowers

IMG_9705

Whether it be flowers from the garden (like I used) or store bought, having flowers around the house always puts a smile on my face. I usually purchase flowers in the fall and winter but in the spring and summer is nice to be able to go out to the garden and make bouquets out of whatever is in bloom.

My Ultimate Summer Bucket List For 2017!

IMG_8692

Happy Monday guys!

Last week I spent a day with my sister Jess, and my bestie Rebecca (you may recognize the name from our BFF Tag) hiking and exploring local conservation areas, and we got to talking about fun things we want to do this summer and it inspired me to sit down and start my list. I  always enjoy reading other people’s ‘bucket list’ posts so I thought I would share it with all of you, and challenge you to start writing down the things you want to do this summer! Wether it be activities or even goals you want to accomplish, I find when you write them down your more likely to do them.

Birthday Haul!

Hey guys!

It’s been a week since you’ve heard from me, I skipped my Wednesday and Friday posts last week for my birthday. So today’s post is a round up of everything I bought for myself on my birthday & what Peter gave me as a gift! But let me start off by saying I had the worst luck ever on my actual birthday (last Thursday) and my car had an electrical fire as we were driving home from Toronto..so I ended up with a huge tow truck bill as my main birthday present…which kind of put a damper on things but my birthday celebration on Friday night made up for it.

Okay lets jump into the good stuff, first up is makeup!

img_5106

I always buy fresh makeup the day before my birthday, because lets face it… the first application with new makeup is magical to say the least.. and what better day to feel that magic than on my birthday!

Makeup details – Smashbox Primer Set / Rimmel Lipstick (by Kate) *in shade 45/ Covergirl Kity Kat Matte Lipstick *in shade Pink Paws / NYX Concealer / Telescope Mascara / NYX Matte Lip Lingerie *in shade Babydoll/

img_5222On my actual Birthday Peter took me to the new Nordstrom in Toronto because we finally got one here! That was my one birthday request, but surprisingly I didn’t find much to buy that I thought was worth the price.

What I did leave with was:  Sunnies *in rose gold / Sugarfina Bubble Bears /

and….

 Scarf /

This gorgeous blanket scarf! Its the perfect size for feeling extra cozy in the fall, and is a really gorgeous gray/olive colour.

Hat / Leggings /

Next stop was to the GAP and I fell in love with this adorable pink pom pom hat! I thought it would be so cute with a leather jacket.. the perfect girly/edgy combo.

Then to Old Navy for my favorite leggings, these are high rise and soooo flattering, they look and feel like Lulu Lemon leggings but a fraction of the price!

…..and last but not least Peter’s gift to me from my Birthday Wishlist post!

Thanks so much for reading!

5 “Summer” Activities That Are Actually Better In The Fall!

Hey Guys!

I know it’s sad that summer is coming to an end but I thought it would be fun to share some common “summer” activities that are actually better in the fall!

Hiking

delaware-canal-state-park-fall-runners-976vp

Hiking is actually much better in the fall, with the beautiful changing leaves and the crisp air keeping you from overheating on your walk. It’s also great because dangerous plants like Poison Ivy are more noticeable in the fall because they tend to change colour before other plants do. It’s believed to be less dangerous too once the plant oil draws back into the stem and roots of the Ivy and out of the easily accessible leaves.

Camping

I’m a huge summer camper as you may already know, but last year I went camping in the fall and actually preferred it over the summer. I found as long as you bring enough cozy blankets, the cooler temps made for much better sleeping! Also if your camping at a campground, the beaches and hiking trails are significantly less crowded which means you can hike at your own pace without worry of being stuck behind a group of slow walkers (LOL story of my life!).

Visiting Fruit Farms

Pumpkin Farm, Champlaine Valley, Vt

Instead of boiling in the heat picking strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries, try apple or pumpkin picking in September/October. Most farms have hay rides, hot apple cider, and baked treats in the fall, so you can go to the farm and make a day out of it!

ATV Riding/Quadding

This probably isn’t something that everyone does but ATVing is one of my favorite outdoor activities in the summer and fall. I look forward to it the most in the fall because there’s a lot less rain compared to the summer so you don’t get nearly as muddy as you usually would, and going for a ride through the forest or A farm field in the fall is just so beautiful!

Baking

best-fall-baking_03

Baking is always fun but in the fall I enjoy it a lot more often, there are so many delicious desserts to make in the fall with apples and pumpkins! Basically all the best (in my opinion) treats are ones you can bake in the fall, like butter tarts, apple crisp, pumpkin pie, cinnamon caramel apple bread, or apple pies!  In the cooler months I don’t mind having the oven running if I’m heating the house anyway, but I avoid running it in the summer unnecessarily because it’s so counterproductive.

I don’t know about you, but I’m just itching to start doing all these fun all activities!
