Whats In My Makeup Bag!

Happy Friday Friends,

I’m rounding off this week with a beauty post, finally! It’s been a while since I shared my favourite products with you guys, so today I’m giving you all the details on my makeup bag hits and misses. I’ve been reaching for more and more drug store products lately. I find CoverGirl, L’oreal, and Maybelline have been stepping up their game, so I don’t feel the need to go out and splurge on higher end products as often, which is amazing!

Hits:

Foundation & Concealer

Laura Mercier Foundation in shade ‘Medium Ivory’

I am obsessed with the full coverage and dewiness of this foundation. And the shade I have is perfect for when I have my fake tanner on since it has a bit of olive undertone to it. I can’t seem to find a shade in it that matches my natural(extremely fair) skin tone though, which leads me to my next foundation choice….

CoverGirl Vitalist Elixer Foundation

This stuff is soooo good for a drug store foundation. Its not quite as full coverage as the Laura Mercier foundation but it can be built up but adding an extra pump wherever you need to more coverage. It’s dewy and light-weight, and a fraction of the price of high end foundations, making this one a great alternative. It also has SPF which is amazing! I have this one in the lightest shade, and the third lightest(for when I have my tanner on) and reach for it everyday.

Maybelline Better Skin Concealer in shade ‘Ivory’

I’ve been using this concealer for years now and can’t stop, it has great coverage and sets really well with my favourite loose powder. The combo together gives me flawless and crease free results, everytime!

Powders

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder

I firmly believe this is the best translucent powder on the market for setting your concealer. I used to use this powder to set my whole face but found it left me a little matte, and for someone who likes the glowy/dewy look to their foundation it wasn’t my favourite look. Also its pretty pricey so I started saving a lot more money by only using it to set my under eyes lol!

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Loose Powder in shade ‘Translucent Light’

Okay, I feel like I keep raving about everything but here I go again – I’m obsessed with this powder. Its sooooo good for setting your whole face because it doesn’t make you look powdery or matte. Its also amazing at covering any discolouration on your face. My nose is usually red on the end and its so hard to cover with just foundation and concealer. So what I do is pack the powder on the discolouration after applying my foundation and leave it for a few minutes to ‘bake’. Then I just dust it off and it will completely cover the redness, and it works the same for pimples too.

Two Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in shade ‘Milk Chololate’

I have used this bronzer for years, its the perfect matte bronze shade to use for contouring. It helps make the contour look more like a shadow then any other bronzer I’ve used, and it latests forever! I don’t know how but its like never ending haha and smells like milk chocolate!

Eyes

CoverGirl Brow & Eye Makers in shade ‘Soft Brown’

I had been searching for the perfect brow shade for my hair colour forever, because its so hard to find a blonde eyebrow shade thats not boarder line orange. I stumbled upon this one by complete accident when my sister bought a pack and then never used it, so she gave it to me to try. I never would have purchased a ‘soft brown’ shade in fear that it would be too dark, but this colour is perfect! I use a light hand because it can look dark if you press down really hard, but a light brushing stroke gives me the perfect brow shade.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in shade ‘Scratch’

There was a colour very similar to this in my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette called ‘Buzz’ and I used it up right away because I loved it so much. So I went to Sephora and asked the girls there to grab me a shadow pot with the closest shade to ‘Buzz’ in it, and they gave me this one! I love using a light shimmery shade on my lids and this rose gold one is no exception.

Carli Byble Pallet

I have mentioned this pallet before to you guys but its still a favourite of mine that I use daily. The mauve and brown shadows are my go-tos and the largest, lightest highlight shade is an all time favourite! The quality of this palette is just insane for the price point, its a definite must have for me.

Lips

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in shade ‘Eastend Snob’

I love this liner, its new to my collection and its stolen my heart already! Its so creamy and smooth, it lasts hours and doesn’t bleed. The colour is also the perfect shade to pair with any of my pink or rose lipsticks.

Mac Lipstick in shade ‘Please Me’

‘Please Me’ is my go-to everyday shade of lipstick, its the perfect pinky rose and compliments any outfit perfectly! If you’ve seen any of my instagram/blog OOTD photos then you’ve definitely seen me wearing it, I wear this shade almost daily.

L’oreal Colour Riche in shade ‘Matte-caron’

My favourite matte baby pink shade to wear with light and bright outfits. The formula is super creamy and it smells like cotton candy, its soooo good!

Misses:

Mascara

L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara in ‘Blackest Black’

I wanted to love this mascara… it applied nicely and made me lashes look really good. However the transfer and fall out was what ruined it for me. I couldn’t go a few hours without getting black dots on my brow bone from my lashes touching whenever I would look up. And I found the formula flaked off really easily so I would end up with little black flakes under my eyes too. It’s a shame because what It does for your lashes is great, and the packaging is beautiful!

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in ‘Blackest Black’

After trying the L’oreal Lash Paradise and being disappointed I went back to the drug store in search for another one to try out. The Maybelline Push-Up Mascara caught my eye, but to be honest when I saw the packaging I thought it was a double ended mascara. One with a primer on one end and a mascara on the other, so I was a little disappointed when I got home and it wasn’t. It’s my fault though for not properly reading the package, Peter was with me and he hates makeup shopping so I just grabbed it and left lol! I don’t find the mascara does any sort of lifting or ‘push up’ like the packaging says, but the brush end is nice. However it applies a lot of product at once, so I have to use it with a light hand or my lashes look really chunky.

With all that being said – I’m still on the hunt for a affordable mascara so if you guys know of any good ones let me know in the comments below! If not, I may have to go back to my old trusty Givenchy mascara. It’s pricey but it works wonders! Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I’ll talk to you on Monday 🙂

Enjoy your weekend!

Best Basics & Wardrobe Staples Of 2017

I’m rounding up the best basics and wardrobe staples that I’ve been wearing on repeat all through 2017! These days my everyday uniform seems to be jeans or leggings with some kind of white cami/tee, a leather jacket on top and sneakers. I’m never quite sure what I’ll be up to so that outfit just seems to fit my needs perfectly, its comfortable, easy and can look stylish just by adding a few simple accesories. So thats exactly what I’m sharing with you guys today, my tried and true everyday basics.

Best: Essential Layering Cami

Okay so I have two favourites in this category (and I have at least 5 camis from each brand in my wardrobe currently)because they’re both perfect for layering under everything and thick enough that your not going to see through them. The one I’m wearing in the pictures above is my current favourite, it comes in all your basic colours -black, white, cream, grey, and even comes in a satin finish at certain times of the year. I buy smalls in this cami for reference, but would definitely size down to an extra small for a more professional fit. My other (and all time!!)favourite is this one. Its great because it comes in tons of different colours, patterns, fabrics, and most of them are reversible – so two looks for the price of one! I wear mediums in these for some extra length through the torso but if your average height or under, just buy your normal size. Im currently adding this one to my cart for spring, I’m such a sucker for blue and white stripes!

Best: Long Sleeve Crew Neck & Long Sleeve V Neck (linking to similar styles)

I love a nice soft long sleeve. They’re the perfect piece to throw on with jeans and a cardigan/jacket to run errands in, and when they’re as soft as a pyjama shirt you can’t get any better then that. My all time favourite long sleeves are from here. Unfortunately for us, they don’t currently have my favourite style (pictured above)in stock but they do have the turtleneck version which I love for winter. But if your ever looking for a super soft tee – long or short sleeve, my favourites are the ones made with 70-100% Modal, I don’t know why but my Modal tee’s hold up the best and are always extremely soft while still feeling light weight.

Best: Tee & Vee

I love my modal tees, but theres nothing like a crisp white or black cotton tee for looking a bit more put together. I love the look of a tucked in cotton tee with high waisted denim, a jacket, booties and a belt. There’s just something so chic about it!

Best: Flattering Denim

I literally only wear one brand/style of jeans because once I found these I instantly fell in love and have never felt the need to look elsewhere. I rave about them all the time because they’re affordable, come in every wash possible and have a higher rise waist which is sooo flattering. I’ve been wearing nothing but these jeans for about two years now and they don’t stretch out and hold up really well for their price point. I’d say quality wise they are the same as American Eagle Jeans, but half the price(get ’em on sale!), and I size down in these to a size 2 (I’m usually a 4 or 27 in jeans). Only negative I have about them is that the darker washes fade after a while but I feel like thats pretty standard for dark wash jeans, and for the price I just order another pair.

Best: High Rise Leggings

Okay I know everyone raves about the Zella ‘Live in High Waist Leggings’ being the best dupe for a high quality Lulu legging at a lower price point(roughly $60), but I have to tell you guys that I found a dupe just as good but even more affordable! I’ve mentioned them before but my High Rise Compression Leggings are the greatest Lulu dupes everrrr…and they’re like $30!! Plus they go on sale all the time for $15. I’m so obsessed I keep a copy of the item number in my reminders on my phone so I can order more whenever they have a good sale lol! A lot the the leggings they have look the same online but aren’t the same fabrication, so make sure if you try them to get the exact ones I linked. I get an extra small because I like my leggings snug, and the high waist is really flattering. Plus the fabrication in these doesn’t stretch out like most inexpensive leggings do, they are so comparable to Lulu lemon leggings its crazy!

Best: Adidas Sneakers & Nike Running shoes

I live in my sneakers all week, I wear them to the gym, the grocery store, the movies ect. I think 2017 was the year of the sneaker for me, I learned to incorporate them into my outfits in different ways other then just going to the gym…like why wouldn’t I want to be stylish and comfortable all the time!?

…Okay moving on, hey guys!

I’ve been dreaming of this outfit in my head for months now and have been waiting (for what feels like forever) until September to wear it. The olive green and tan tones give this look a fall feel but its light and breezy enough to wear while it’s still warm out. I have another swing dress like this in burgundy (full post here) and I love wearing them, they are so comfortable I literally felt like I was walking around town in pajamas…in the best way possible. The fabric weight of this dress is perfect for this time of year, I’m planning on wearing it with a jacket and tights later on!

Thanks for reading, enjoy your Wednesday!
