Getting In The Fall Spirit: TV Shows & Movies!

Hey Guys, Happy October!!

I wanted to start a new series on the blog for fall, all about how to get into the spirit and embrace the season. In the fall I find myself craving tv shows & movies that give me one of two feelings, cozy, or creepy, and I’m sure I’m not alone. So I’m breaking down all the shows and movies I’ve been hooked on that give me all the fall vibes!

Cozy Shows/Movies – ie. Shows that are usually set in the fall, but are wholesome and easy to watch with the whole family. They’re the perfect kind of show to curl up in bed to watch with a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate and just enjoy.

  • The Good Witch – The movies are great, but the TV show is even better, and great for the whole family.
  • The Proposal – A classic Rom-Com starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, its an older movie but still one of my fall favourites
  • Girl Vs Monster – A Disney Channel Halloween Movie, its sets the fall/Halloween feels and is easy to watch.
  • Halloween Wars – A reality/competition show revolving around everything Halloween
  • Halloween Baking Championship – Another reality/competition show that challenges bakers to make spooky treats (I love this one because it gives you fun ideas of what you could make with your family/friends)

A few classic movies worth mentioning – Hocus Pocus, Halloween town (1,2,3,&4), twitches (1&2), Tower of Terror, & Haunted Mansion.

Creepy Shows/Movies – ie. Shows with a bit of mystery and/or horror without being too scary(I don’t watch believably scary stuff or I get nightmares lol)

  • Riverdale – Netflix’s new show based around the Archie comics
  • Scream Queens – Full of (cheesy) murder and drama, but I love it.
  • Scream – The Netflix Tv series NOT the old movies. I just discovered this show and binge watched the whole 2 seasons in three days. If you like PLL, Riverdale or Scream Queens you’ll like this one. (Warning* It is gory but its very fake looking, so its not overly scary)
  • Stranger Things – I’m sure you’ve all seen the first season but if you haven’t you should catch up now because the new season comes out October 27th on Netflix!
  • Shadow Hunters – I mentioned this one last year when there was only 1 season on Netflix, and now that season two just ended and the filming for season three has started I feel like I should mention it again. If you like supernatural shows with demons and vampires, you’ll love this show.

A few older shows worth mentioning incase you didn’t take the plunge into them years ago – Pretty Little Liars (their coming out with a spin off too!!), The Walking Dead, & The 100.

I’m going to keep adding to this post as I discover more Autumnal shows, so keep checking back! If you have any shows or movies you think I should watch and add to the list leave me a comment below. Id love to hear your suggestions for fally shows 🙂

IMG_9739

Good morning guys!

Today I’m collaborating with Charmed Aroma to round up all of my favorite things that get me most excited for summer. I always love putting these seasonal posts together because its a really fun way to kick off another exciting season, and what better way to do it then with Charmed Aroma. As you guys know, I love candles, I burn them almost everyday and always switch the scents up for each season, but what makes Charmed Aroma extra special is that their candles are made with soy wax. Making them beautify fragrant, giving them a longer burning life, and hidden in that soy wax is a piece of jewelry! Yep you heard me… rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets, are all hidden among their candles! Lucky for you they ship to Canada, United States, United Kingdom, and Australia, so you can all get your hands on them, and whats even better is I have an exclusive promo code for you too! ….But more on that later, lets jump into todays post!

Spending time outside

IMG_9706

This one I’m sure comes as no surprise, but spending time outdoors is something I do everyday in the summer. The weather is usually perfect and the flowers are too pretty not to sit and stare at haha! My mom, sister and I spend many afternoons with tea and cookies in the garden on sunny days, its our favorite thing to do in the summer!

Sip on my favorite summer drink

There is nothing better then a cold refreshing drink on a hot summer day, which is why I love making my favorite Starbucks inspired Passion Tea Lemonade. I posed the recipe for it here, and just doubled the batch in order to fill my juice pitcher! If you’ve never tried it, its just as refreshing as lemonade but with a fruity twist.

Bring the fresh smell of summer inside

IMG_9703

Okay, back to the good stuff – I saw this candle on the Charmed Aroma website and fell completely in love with it! Not only because of the adorable ceramic pineapple exterior (which makes for the cutest room decor!), but the description of the smell was so good I could almost smell it through the computer screen. Charmed Aroma was nice enough to send me one and let me tell you…its gooooood. I’m burning it as we speak and it smells like a tropical paradise, and that’s not even the best part! The ring hidden inside is worth up to $5,000! Its a candle that just keeps giving <3

Bake up some summery treats

IMG_9740

I’m a big fan of lemon flavored baked goods in the summer, danishes, cupcakes, muffins, they are all my favorite! So when I’m in that baking mood I usually go for something fresh and lemony, like these lemon poppy seed muffins! These make for a perfect mid afternoon snack, and taste amazing.

Brighten up any space with fresh flowers

IMG_9705

Whether it be flowers from the garden (like I used) or store bought, having flowers around the house always puts a smile on my face. I usually purchase flowers in the fall and winter but in the spring and summer is nice to be able to go out to the garden and make bouquets out of whatever is in bloom.

Do you have any activities that you do to embrace the summer? Let me know in the comments below! And a big Thank you to Charmed Aroma for collaborating with me on this post. You can check out their full selection of candles, bath bombs, and body care on their website. Every one of their products come with a piece of sterling silver jewelry inside worth up to $5,000!! If you grab one be sure to share your jewelry reveal online with #charmedaroma for a chance to win another free ring!

Easter Birds Nest Cupcake Idea!

eastercupcakes

Happy Monday everyone!

Spring has finally sprung and Easter is just a few weeks away! I always feel so energized this time of year (after what feels like an eternal winter), I get in this mood where all I want to do is clean, organize, and get creative with fun projects. Baking always seems to be one of the things I turn to when I’m feeling this way, so yesterday I had fun making these cute little birds nest cupcakes I saw on Pinterest.

IMG_7666

Whether you’re in need of a dessert to bring to Easter dinner, or you just feel like making something fun an simple, these cupcakes are totally for you! I saw the idea on Pinterest and thought it was too cute not to try myself, and it was surprisingly easy.

IMG_7669

What I Used:

  • Betty Crocker French Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Peeps
  • Mini Eggs ( I chose the ‘Our Finest’ brand because they have the little speckles on them!)
  • Spring-y cupcake trays

IMG_7668

Decorating Instructions:

  1. After I baked the cupcakes I whipped up some vanilla icing with green food colouring, and chocolate icing, making sure they were extra thick so they would keep their shape
  2. I put the green icing in a pasty bag and attached a small star tip, I did the ‘grass’ on all of my cupcakes before starting the nests
  3. Next I put the chocolate icing in a freezer bag and cut a small hole in the corner to use for the nests, swirling it around in ‘messy’ circles to make it look like little branches
  4. After that I just filled the little nests with mini eggs, and topped some of the cupcakes with peeps, to add a bit of variety

And thats all there was to it, A super fun and easy cupcake idea for any spring time occasion!

Valentines Day* Heart-Shaped Apple Cinnamon Rolls!

Good morning and happy Friday!

For today’s post I wanted to share my heart-shaped apple cinnamon rolls with you! I made these last night for Peter as an early Valentines day treat, since hes going away for a week and wont be here on the actual day. I know chocolate is a Valentines day staple, but Peter doesn’t eat a lot of chocolate so I wanted to do something a little different this year. Instead I decided I would spruce up a regular cinnamon roll and make it into a mini cinnamon apple pie roll -two of Peters favorites, cinnamon rolls and apple pie….who am I kidding, I’m sure those two are everyones favorites!

These were super easy to make so its not much of a recipe post because everything I bought was pre-made. I’m posting this idea for anyone else who is looking for something easy, delicious, and different then the typical chocolate Valentines day desserts.

What you’ll need

– Pillsbury *Cinnabon* Flaky Supreme Cinnamon Roll Dough (makes 5 rolls and comes with icing)

-Apple pie filling

What To Do

-Unroll the cinnamon rolls and line the strips of dough with the apple’s from the pie filling

-Roll the dough back up in the shape of a heart

-Once rolled back up, I take a knife and add a layer of the apple jelly from the pie filling on top of each roll before putting in the oven

-bake at 350 for about 20 minutes – or until golden brown

-Remove from oven, let cool for 10 minutes (if you can!), drizzle with icing and enjoy 🙂

I mentioned on Instagram that these puppies got scarfed down immediately after baking. There was no “let cool for 10 minutes” waiting time for us, they smelt soo good, we couldn’t wait!

If anyone tries this idea let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful weekend.
