Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Just a quick post today to tell you guys about this cute pink sweater that I scored for only $20 at Banana Republic the other day(their sales are unreal this time of year). I’m not sure why its such a big price difference online but in stores it was marked down to $39.99 with an additional 50% off, which of course I was thrilled about! I can’t pass up a good deal, especially when it’s pink.  😉

On another note – I stumbled upon the cutest Christmas gift for a fashion lover… wait for it…Rebecca Minkoff collaborated with Chandon to design 2 limited edition champagne bottles for them, and I’m obsessed! I want to buy a bottle for every one of my girlfriends, and like 3 for myself haha! They are a great gifting price point too at $29.99 each.

The Best Sugar Cookie Recipe For The Holidays!!

Hi guys!!

Last week I mentioned that every year around Christmas my mom, sister and I bake up a huge batch of sugar cookies and spend a whole night decorating them. Well this passed weekend we did just that and today I’m sharing the recipe for the best sugar cookies ever!!

If you love soft baked chewy cookies you are going to love these, I promise.

Our Famous Sugar Cookie Recipe: (Makes one batch)

Dry Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

2 cups flour

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter

1 egg

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon milk

Steps:

  1. When you start making the dough – first combine all the dry ingredients in one bowl and all the wet ingredients in another (separate) bowl. After that is complete then mix both bowls of ingredients together.
  2. Then divide it up by batch (if your making more then one batch) and cover in saran wrap. Keep it in the fridge over night to cool – or approx 4 hours until dough has cooled
  3. Next, roll your dough out (not too thin) using flour on the counter.
  4. Once you’ve got the dough rolled out grab your festive cookie cutters and go to town!
  5. Bake at 350 for 10(ish) minutes. You want to ensure these don’t over cook. I usually wait 8 mins and then keep an eye on them for the last few minutes.

**Depending on the thickness of the dough they may take a little shorter or a little longer then 10 minutes.

Now for the best part….the decorating!

We like to make all different colours of icing just by adding food colouring to our icing recipe, which is just a bit of melted butter, milk, and icing sugar.

We don’t follow an exact recipe for this because we make so many different sizes of icing batches depending on the colour. Just keep adding icing sugar to your butter and milk mixture until you get to your desired consistency.

**You don’t want runny icing if your making designs on your cookies, so be generous with the icing sugar 🙂img_5533

I love making some of my sugar cookies into Belgium cookies by just adding some jam in the middle of two cookies and a little icing on the top! These taste amazingggg, you have to try them if you haven’t already!

and Voila!

If you try this recipe I would love to hear what you thought of it. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week.

The Girly Girl Gift Guide!

girlsgiftguideholiday2016christmas

Plush robe / #Girlboss book  / Starbucks tumblerReading socks /  Rose gold candle / MK bag / Iphone power bank / Iphone charging cordGold swell bottle / Eye shadow Pallet /

Happy Friday everyone!!

Christmas is right around the corner so I figured now is a good time to share a holiday gift guide with you, for that girly girl on your list. I am personally obsessed with everything on this list and want to buy it all, so it’s definitely girly girl approved (haha!).

Plush robe

A nice soft robe is a great gift for anyone on your list, especially that girly girl who loves taking hot baths (or really long showers) and putting on something super comfortable after! Its a great alternative to Pj’s since they are usually one size fits most, and if you find one that’s not, it’s a lot easier to guess a size in a robe because it doesn’t have to be exact!

#Girlboss book

I have heard nothing but good things about this book, I haven’t read it myself so I cant go too into detail but It’s about the creator of the online clothing retailer ‘NastyGal’ and her experiences from started her brand from the ground up! I’ve heard its very motivating and inspiring, I’ve added it to my own Christmas list too!

Starbucks tumbler

Who doesnt love a Starbucks tumbler!? and this one has polar bears on it, LOVE!

Reading socks

These are the absolute best alternative to a slipper! I personally don’t wear slippers very often because I find they slide around on my feet when I’m walking or they fall off when I’m laying on my bed and have my feet up. But these reading socks are like normal thick socks but have a super soft faux Sherpa lining inside! They end up back on my Christmas list every year because I’m so obsessed.

Rose-gold candle

For starters candles are great all year round but this one is so gorgeous I couldn’t not add it to this list! I can also see it being the cutest jewelry/ring holder when you’ve finished with the candle too, it’s like two gifts in one!

Micheal Kors cross-body bag

Every girl needs the perfect mid-sized cross body bag for when shes off to the mall or out to dinner. I’m a major tote bag lover but for me, my bag just gets in the way when I’m out for the day shopping. It gets heavy on my arm and its hard to navigate through tight spaces (especially with a big winter jacket on too!). Which is why this bag is perfect for those days, she can throw in her wallet, keys, phone, and any other little things she might need and shes good to go!

Iphone power bank

This one is great for the girly girl who is always on her phone. For me, my phone usually starts losing power at the least opportune times! Which means everyday before I leave the house I have to remember to bring my one and only charging cord out with me and find an outlet to charge my phone when its dying. But with this she can have her own back up battery power in her purse where ever she goes! AND you can get one to match whatever colour Iphone she has – girly girls love to match! <3

Iphone charging cord

I put this one in here as an extension to the power bank. A special charging cord that can stay in her purse with the power bank would be ideal so she doesn’t have to remember to bring her one from home all the time!

Gold Swell bottle

These are the best for keeping hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold, and come in a ton of colours and patterns!!

Urban Decay eye shadow pallet – Naked 3

Depending of what shades of eye shadow she usually wears, Urban Decay will have a pallet for her! I have been coveting the Naked 3 pallet for years because I wear a lot of gold tones, but if shes more of a neutral girl the Naked or Naked 2 pallets are great as well!

Thanks so much for stopping by & I hope you have an amazing weekend!

How I'm Getting In The Christmas Spirit!

Hi guys!

Today I wanted to get all festive on the blog and share with you how im getting excited for the holidays! My ‘Getting ready for Fall‘ post went over really well so I figured I would lay this post out in kind of the same way. So lets jump right into it!

Fill the air with holiday cheer!

The first thing I always do is pick up some festive holiday candles so my room smells like Christmas. My all-time favorite is Winter Candy Apple, but I discovered Twisted Peppermint this year and absolutely love that one too!

Fill my belly with holiday treats!

I love baking all year round but nothing beats fall/winter baking in the cooler weather. Its so therapeutic baking up a storm inside when snow is falling outside! Every year my sister and I make our favorite holiday rice crispy treats, but they never last more then two days before we’ve eaten the whole batch (oops…haha!).

My mom has always baked up a huge batch of sugar cookies right before Christmas and then my sister, mom and I spend all night decorating them. We bring cookie platters with us to holiday parties and they are always a favorite. It’s a tradition we have done since I can remember and I look forward to it every year. This year I think I’m going to put the recipe and the platter ideas up on my blog, so keep an eye out for that post in the coming weeks!

Spending time with family, doing traditional Christmas activities!

Whether it be curling up by the fire watching Christmas movies together, baking our favorite treats, or building a ginger bread village, this year we are making a conscious effort to spend family time together every week to do a Christmas-based activity.

Listening to Christmas Music!

Before work or in the car I love putting on some Christmas music to get me in the spirit before braving the mall parking lot (#retailworkerproblems) and the hectic stores during December. I find it gives me a little bit more patience and lightens my mood before I start my shift at work, or work on my Christmas shopping.

*My favorite playlist right now is Spotify’s ‘CHRISTMAS MUSIC’ ! Also, for anyone that has Cogeco digital cable I’ve been listening to the ‘holiday favorites’ channel #342 a lot and love it!img_5498

Festive Decorating!

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, this one probably comes as no surprise to you. I looooovvee decorating for every occasion but Christmas is by far my favorite! I love how everything feels so cozy after it’s decorated for Christmas, with the sparkle off the ornaments, and the twinkle from my fairy lights, It just brings me so much joy!

Have nights-in watching holiday movies!

Every night after work in the month of December I love climbing into bed with a cup of tea and watching a Christmas movie before bed.

My top 5 favorites are:

  • Elf
  • Love Actually
  • The Holiday
  • Operation Christmas
  • Christmas Incorporated

Do you have any holiday traditions you start doing come December!? Let me know in the comments below!
